Rev. Dr. S.D. Patterson, Sr. is a Winston-Salem native educated through the Winston-Salem Forsyth School District.
He has been married to Tamica Patterson for over 30 years. They have four children: Shannon DeWayne II, Jarrell Blake, Alexis Marie, and Lance Joshua Patterson.
Dr. S.D. Patterson is an Alumnus of Louisburg College (AAS), UNC-Charlotte (BS), N.C. A&T (Graduate Studies), the John Marshall Law School (Juris Doctrine), United Cornerstone University (DMIN), and Wake Forest University School of Divinity (MDIV).
Before his Pastoral Career, Dr. SD Patterson had an extensive legal career that lasted over twenty years. Dr. S.D. Patterson is the founder and executive director of Neighborhood's Hands, Inc. Under his leadership, Neighborhood's Hands was awarded the "Nonprofit of the Year" by the Winston-Salem Chronicle and the Triad Minority & Women's Business Expo. Dr. S. D. Patterson is the author of "The Handbook...What Every Church, Religious, and Nonprofit Organization Needs to KNOW and HOW to Obtain Funding. " He also hosts a weekly podcast called "Community Talk with Dr. P," which airs every Sunday.
Dr. S. D. Patterson is a Life member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, the Prince Hall Masons (Salem Lodge #139), be it 32nd degree, the Shriners (Sethos Temple #170), the Western Forsyth Rotary Club, and a Silver Life member of the NAACP.
Finally, Rev. Dr. S.D. Patterson is the 10th Pastor of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC.
